Do you want to learn about textile design? ARTI 103: Introduction to Textiles and Textile Design is a studio learning course open to anyone interested in learning about textile design. Students learn the basics of textile design and then apply them into a personal project of their choosing, whether they want to apply their newfound skills to an art installation, clothing, sculpture or home decor. No previous experience with textiles necessary!

Students will explore textile design as a method for understanding the elements and principles of design and three-dimensional design issues as related to textiles for artists and designers. It will introduce students to basic hand textile design approaches: surface design and embellishment, image transfer, eco-dyeing, felting, weaving, and fabric reconstruction.
