With Terri Doughty, VIU English Professor. This presentation will examine intersections between nature, gender, and the supernatural in books by Beskow, both currently in print and available in English, and available only in Swedish and/or out of print. There will also be some discussion of how Beskow’s work, influenced by Swedish National Romanticism, compares to fairy art popular in the United Kingdom and New Zealand during the same early twentieth-century period.
