This semester, the Centre for Innovation and Excellence in Learning will be hosting sessions that bring faculty, staff and students together to talk about teaching and learning, informally and with refreshments. We are inviting instructors to share their stories, their strategies, their challenges, and their successes. It’s an opportunity to hear about what others are doing, get some new ideas, and share your thoughts with colleagues you might not usually connect with. Please think about joining us if you’d like to participate, as a speaker or a participant.
Students as Partners in Teaching and Learning
The Centre for Innovation and Excellence in Learning invites faculty, staff and students to the second teaching and learning panel session this term. In this session, Sandra Johnstone (Faculty of Science & Technology, Earth Science) and Louis Mattar (Faculty of Education, S.H.A.P.E) share their teaching stories about partnering in innovative ways with their students.
Sandra has been making structural course changes to deepen student engagement, involving students as partners in both developing course focus questions and in evaluation. Louis has partnered with his students to design and create open education resources.
This is an informal session, where speakers tell their stories followed by discussion and Q and A. We invite you to come, listen, connect, and be inspired. As always, refreshments served.
