Nov. 8 – Sat. Nov. 11; 7:30 p.m. A play within a play; Our Country’s Good is based on true events that took place in a convict colony in Australia in 1789. Supplies and morale were running low when Governor Arthur Philip hopes that having the colony residents work on a theatrical production together would give them a sense of belonging and purpose. Over the course of producing the play, the characters shift from hating each other to appreciate and support one another. Over the play’s development, the audience will learn a little about each character’s journey; of how “sometimes people end up in a certain place because of circumstances not entirely of their own doing”; but also that “people can change.” The message is about how art enhances humanity, defines culture, and helps unify people. Our Country’s Good is a must-see for anyone who enjoys witty dialogue and a storyline that shows the magical transformation that can take place when humans are shown sympathy and kindness. false
