Join us for an uprising at The View Gallery on VIU's Nanaimo campus Mon Dec 3rd 7-9pm featuring 12 amazing literary performers, some well established in the world of fiction, some performance poets and musicians, some emerging voices exploring other genres from feisty anti-bullying children's books to defiant stories that run the gamut from contemplative to hilarious, angry to inspiring. As these voices rise up, we invite you to join us in this community-building event nearing the end of the 16 Days of Activism in celebration of women's voices around the world who are saying "No!" to misogyny, "Yes!" to the growing wave of women reporting in the #metoo movement, and "let's make change" now for all those who can't wait any longer in our city and beyond.

The gallery space will showcase items representative of the struggle (red dresses, 14 empty chairs for the Dec 6 memorial of the 14 women murdered in Ecole Polytechnique in 1989) as well as information from women's groups across the city who offer services and support in the event of gender-based violence. The VIUSU and VIUFA Status of Women committees and The View Gallery, invite you to be a part of this transformative evening we hope will give rise to so much more...
