Mark’s original dance narrative about Canada’s internment of Japanese people will enthrall and educate. Sansei: The Storyteller expresses one of our nation’s darkest decisions, but it has a silver lining…if not for the internment, Mark wouldn’t be here to tell this historic tale. Mark’s creative performances, held at Vancouver Island University’s Malaspina Theatre, are at 7:30pm from Thursday, Nov. 23 to Saturday, Nov.25; with a 2pm matinee on Saturday too. General tickets to Sansei are $29 ($15 for students), at www.theatreone.org or 250-754-7587. VIU classes can benefit from the group rate, with a $5 discount per entry on a group purchase of 10 or more tickets. Sansei presents a profound personal context that shares fundamental Japanese Canadian ideologies of peace and reconciliation. “Sansei is storytelling at its finest; sophisticated, meaningful, moving, and humorous.” – Laurie Fife, Ottawa Storytellers Society “He’s a terrific stage presence… a natural-born storyteller. The agony and ambiguity of the Japanese internment comes out as much in his dance as it does in his words.” – Calgary Herald Please contact General Manager Eliza Gardiner (admin@theatreone.org) or Box Office Manager Nadine Wiepning, (info@theatreone.org) to book your group’s tickets. See you at the theatre! false
