For example, our first community session on Monday, August 31 is a “Welcome to VIU” featuring President Deborah Saucier, VIU Elders and motivational speaker Blake Fly! That evening, our “Ready, Set, Go!” session will host graduate students from the various VIU graduate programs: Master of Arts in Sustainable Leisure Management, Master of Business Administration, Master of Community Planning, Master of Educational Leadership, Graduate Certificate in Business, and Graduate Diploma in Project Management. The week includes a “Make an Avatar” session for the “Graduate Student Second Life Party” and a range of sessions intended to equip students for a successful start to their graduate studies. Sessions for graduate students are scheduled in the mornings and evenings to accommodate work schedules and international students in different time zones.  In the second week — September 8 to 11 — graduate students from all programs will participate in a virtual escape room, as well as attend program-specific sessions to engage with their cohort peers. The programming for these two weeks is hosted through the Office of Co-Curricular Engagement and Learning through their new online app ‘Involvio’.
