Bisbee ’17

Docu-dramatist Robert Greene skillfully resurrects the ghosts of resistance that haunt Bisbee, Arizona, a tiny mining town trying to come to terms with its own dark history of racism. In 1917, 1,200 striking German and Mexican workers were shipped off at gunpoint and left for dead in the New Mexico desert. As the town historians prepare for the centennial of this chilling event, Greene examines the ethical, political and social meanings of artifice, and how past conflicts resonate in the present.
