Would you like to make a difference? Become a volunteer tutor!

The Faculty of Academic and
Career Preparation at the Nanaimo campus is seeking personable, community
minded folks for our volunteer tutor program. You would be working with VIU
students who are upgrading in English, math, physics, biology and chemistry from
literacy levels up to Grade 12 and first year university level. Volunteer
tutoring is an excellent way to gain valuable experience and contribute in a
meaningful way to our community while assisting adult learners to achieve their
educational goals.
Tutors are dedicated and motivated community members who have professional experience working with students in an academic environment, or who are skilled in subject matter relating to the ACP programs. Tutors can be retired professors, professionals in their field, or university students as well.Tutors are asked to commit to 3 hours per week for at least 6 months, and in turn receive valuable and recognized tutor training free of charge at VIU. Free parking is provided for tutors meeting students on campus.

Be part of the community of academic success! If you are interested in learning more about this great opportunity, please contact Kathy Smith at 250-753-3245 loc. 2921 or email kathy.smith@viu.ca.
